Evening Class Update    
USN Evening Classes are in full swing as the third week of classes gets underway.  Thanks to all of you who have signed up and/or taken a class already and helped this scholarship fund raising program off to our best start ever.  There's still over two months of learning left and we hope you'll consider another class or two in 2012.  
 
In this issue of our newsletter, we're highlighting three categories of classes but there are dozens more for you to choose from in our online catalog.
Tours And Two Special Off Site Opportunities    
USN Evening Classes is about more than just the classroom experience.  Among our courses are a variety of tours and gatherings that feature some of Nashville's most creative and influential citizens.  Whether your interest lies in art, music or architecture check out these offerings:
 
#602 - Ethics and Decision Making: A Salon Style Evening with Bruce and Megan Barry on Thursday, March 1.  Sip a glass of wine in a lovely private home and get ready to challenge the way you think about right and wrong as Bruce and Megan Barry lead the group through a lively exercise in ethical decision making.
 
#104 -Fairy Tales, Monsters & The Genetic Imagination: A Tour At The Frist Center on Thursday, March 8. Explore this contemporary art exhibit with Mark Scala, chief curator at The Frist Center. A must for those who love contemporary art and those who seek to understand it.
 
#905 - A Tour of The Delgado Guitars Workshop with Manuel Delgado on Friday, March 9.  Join master luthier Manuel Delgado as he personally leads you through his workshop and reveals the secrets of crafting exquisite musical instruments.
 
#118 - The Sense, Sound and Taste of Nashville Music on Friday, April 13.  Musician Chris Farren is gathering his music industry friends for a fantastic evening of music and food in an intimate setting.  An event not to be missed!
 
 #902 - Architectural Tour of Upper Broad with Christine Kreyling and Ann Roberts on Saturday, April 14th.  Join these two accomplished preservationists as they explore the architectural gems found on Upper Broadway.
Cooking Class Slots Still Available    
Don't miss securing your seat at one of our fabulous cooking classes.  While some classes have filled we have many with spaces available:
 
#422 What's On Your Plate - Healthy Alternatives to Foods You Love on Thursday, February 9.  Join Chef Robin Fulcher as she leads students through the how-tos of a delicious menu of items that are meat, dairy and gluten free.  This class is being held in a private home in the West End area.
 
#410 Pasta Making At Porta Via on Sunday, February 12.  Snag one of the last 5 seats for this terrific class where you learn to make pasta from the very best!  This class is beng held at Porta Via's White Bridge Road location.
 
#406 Spirits & Classic Cocktails on February 15 and #407 The Wonders of Wood Maturation on March 7 with Chris Chamberlain and friends both have seats available.  Join Chris as he dazzles you with his vast knowledge of  how to prepare and share spirits! 
 
#409 Fundamental French on Friday, February 17.  Chef Jamie Watson's class has a few spots remaining.  Don't miss this chance to learn how to prepare french favorites from a real expert.  This class is being held at a private home in the Green Hills area.
 
#454 Beer & Cheese with the Jackalope Brewery & The Bloomy Rind on Wednesday, February 22. Expertly crafted beer and gourmet cheese make the perfect pairing in this class held at the Jackalope Brewery on 8th Avenue.
 
#450 Puff Pastry - The Basics on Friday, February 24.  Provence's pastry chef Joshua Pion will lead students through the how-tos of Puff Pastry.  This class is being held at the Provence Bakery on Donelson Pike.

Looking to spend quality time with your teen or pre-teen?  Check out these two fantastic classes that provide you the opportunity for fun and bonding:
 
#423 - Making S'mores With Bang Candy Company on Sunday, February 26.  Join confectioner Sarah Souther as she cooks up delicious treats during this Sunday afternoon class.
 
#901 - Geocaching For Beginners on Thursday, March 1 and Saturday, March 3.  This class is for students 16 and up who want to learn about this high tech game of hide and seek.  Students 12 and up may also take the class if a parent joins them (for no additional fee) on the Saturday piece of this class.  Enthusiastic Geocachers Leslie Hudson and Gail Plucker will lead you through the ins and outs of this fun hobby.
